Wemby & Castle Make NBA History with Dual Triple-Doubles in Spurs Loss! | NBA Highlights (2025)

A historic night of individual brilliance overshadowed by a team loss – that's the story of Victor Wembanyama and Stephon Castle's extraordinary performance against the Golden State Warriors. Despite the San Antonio Spurs falling short, these two young stars etched their names in NBA history. Let's dive into the details!

On Wednesday, November 13, 2025, the Spurs faced off against the Warriors. In a nail-biting finish, Wembanyama, needing just one assist for a triple-double, threw a daring full-court pass to teammate Stephon Castle, who successfully converted the shot with a mere 0.2 seconds left on the clock. While the play didn't change the game's outcome, it sealed Wembanyama's triple-double with 31 points, 15 rebounds, and 10 assists. Castle, for his part, finished with 23 points, 10 rebounds, and 10 assists.

This dynamic duo's performance placed them among an elite group. ESPN Research confirmed that they became only the fifth pair in NBA history to achieve a 20-point triple-double each in the same game, and the first in Spurs history!

"I was thinking about [the double triple-double] of course," Wembanyama admitted, reflecting on his game-sealing assist. "I don't even remember the score, but I think it was the right decision."

Adding another layer of uniqueness, Wembanyama and Castle are the first teammates to achieve this feat in a losing effort.

"Obviously, we wanted to win," Castle, a second-year guard, shared, having secured his first career triple-double. "But yeah, happy to get [two triple-doubles]. It is something great to be a part of. Proud to be a part of it, but we needed to win to add onto it."

But here's where it gets controversial... Golden State's Stephen Curry spoiled the Spurs' night, scoring a game-high 46 points and leading the Warriors to victory. The Warriors also hit an impressive 21 three-pointers, overcoming a 16-point deficit in the first half.

Castle and Wembanyama clinched their triple-doubles in the final seconds. Castle grabbed his tenth rebound with 5.4 seconds remaining, while Wembanyama completed his second career 30-point triple-double with the last-second assist. Wembanyama also had eight turnovers, just one shy of his career high. Castle, meanwhile, continued his streak of impressive playmaking, recording his fourth consecutive game with 10 assists.

Spurs coach Mitch Johnson praised the duo's effort, saying, "Yeah, those guys were competing. They're doing a lot of good. We just have to try to navigate some of the peaks and valleys. We're just having too many lows. There's still a lot of highs, and we're doing a lot of good things. But we just need to be more consistent."

What do you think? Did the individual brilliance of Wembanyama and Castle make up for the loss? Do you think the Spurs are on the right track despite the inconsistency? Share your thoughts in the comments below!
