That mostly summarizes our dearest, God like, pharmacist hero, Ryat. What a dear he was 🥰, so romantic and straight up man 🤡, one of a kind, that he was.
(Sorry but not sorry, I didn’t really feel any connection with him 💁🏻‍♀️, and not a very interesting character at that, take all the sex and that leaves a dull and flat character with no background 😒)

And let's say, that okay, that's freedom because in the end you chose to be a sex slave/chosen, but everything was orchestrated by our dear pharmacist Ryat (who likes to play with peoples lives when he's ordered to), so in the end where's the election? Where's the f*cking freedom? I don't see it anywhere 🧐

Yeah, some would argue that my agreeing to be his chosen one strips away any say I have over my body, but I see it differently. I see freedom in knowing that I belong to him.

Blake, really should have been told that being sexually adventurous/open doesn't mean she's strong, powerful and in control. The poor girl thinks that because she likes kinky sex, she's some powerful badass, who has control over her life (one sec, while I laugh myself off the bed 🤣) 🤡, for that to happen she should have to fight back and give the middle finger to dear Ryat, daddy dearest and the super big bank account (don't think she's capable of that 😶).

When she actually run off, she was found shortly after and didn't put much fight, she actually admitted to have missed him and all that life... (Is someone bullsh*tting me? How can someone have that bad memory at such a young age? 🤨)
How could someone miss being drugged time and time again, threatened, ignored and kept constantly in the dark?

There was ONE character I did like at the end, she should have appeared sooner and more, the most interesting one and the real 'badass', what a heroine should be like. Ms. Le Anne, was definitely one of a kind too, but in this case, I did quite enjoy her (kill me! yes, she's a woman so that was a bonus point for her, not ashamed, power for women always 😌)

“A Lord is nothing without his Lady.” She calls out, making me pause. I turn back to look at her. “Ryat without you, is just another ordinary man.” Standing, she walks around the desk and makes her way over to me. “You make him a Lord, Blakely.” Reaching out, I suck in a deep breath when her fingers grab a piece of my hair. “Don’t ever kneel thinking that you need to serve him. Kneel because you want to serve him.” I swallow nervously. “You have the power to make him hear, see and believe whatever you want to. Keep that in mind when he tells you he loves you.”

So, in overall the book was lacking, there was good steam, poorly developed characters,

We weren't almost talked anything about this supposed secret society, only a few crumbs here and there, we still don't know what they do 🥸, the character's drama thrown in at random was some special gift there 👏🏼🥳, the non existent backgrounds for both mc's (if you take the sex what remains are two plain and flat dorks, toxic to the core 🙆🏻‍♀️😌), we don't even know how Matt and Blakely met ( wtf 🤨).

I really wanted to like this. Like REALLY REALLY.

I miss the days of the Dare series. 🖤 Cole Reynolds is in my top 3 Bullies. 😍 I've been waiting for a book from this author that feels more like those. Monogamous couple with some edge. Jealous/possessive H, spunky h. And after begging for spoilers from friends, I finally got someone to tell me that the H doesn't share the h with anyone and she is only with him. So, I thought I was buckled in for a winner.... Oh, poor sweet naive Mel. 😅

Honestly, I liked how it started. 🤷🏼‍♀️ Seemed super promising. Standard bullyish beginning. Interesting premise... but I started grimacing and frowning fairly early. 😬

I mean, the premise is typical... there's a glorified college frat that caters to the super wealthy and powerful. This one has an initiation process that includes forced celibacy and M U R D E R. In this story, the guys that make it to year 3 without getting knocked off, get to choose a sex slave. No worries though, the girls inexplicably agree to do it. So, you can unclutch your pearls, guys... these girls totally WANT to be objectified and used in sexual slavery and passed around to anyone their "Lord" chooses. 👀 Isn't that the dream of all college girls? 👀 If they are REALLY good, and one of these Lords decides they want to make one of these classy gals their wife, then that gal gets to be crowned a "Lady", but not before proving they can be M U R D E R Y as well. Seems legit. 🤷🏼‍♀️ And what do the guys get out of the deal? THE ULTIMATE POWER. 🤡 Well, our H (Ryat) gets to become a…judge... 👀 I'm not sure why he doesn't just attend college and become a judge.... but I guess, you do you boo. Whatevs. 👀

Anywho... that's basically the end of the world building. They do all their weird public sex rituals in an old church, inexplicably in the baptism pool. Because...sure. 🙄

So our h (Blakely) is a 21 year old virgin. Her boyfriend of 3-years is in this sex frat, but she knows absolutely nothing about it. He tells her he's saving himself for marriage, so she assumes that's why he doesn't have sex with her. Also, this is an unwanted arranged relationship by her parents. She's promised to marry this tool, doesn't particularly like him, but for some reason she's been trying to sex him up for 3 years. 🤔 You should also know that her father was a Lord, and she vaguely knows this, but again is COMPLETELY in the dark of all goings-on with the group. Apparently it only occurs to her to ask questions 3 years in... okie dokie. 👍🏻

So, our H is given the h as his "chosen" sex slave... Get this... BY HER FATHER 🥴 (she's unaware of that part). The h decides the sex slave life is A-ok because it means she's FREEEEE.... 🥴 I mean, that's certainly an interesting perspective... I couldn’t come up with a reason why any woman would agree to this. There really didn’t seem to be any sort of upside to it for the women, besides sex… but they don’t even have a guarantee that they’ll like it… but at this point, I was still trying desperately to roll with it. 🙈

Now Ryat? He has all the basics that make me swoon:

...oh wait... here's where things really start to get weird. Ryat really likes an unconscious gal. Like it's his favorite. He is forever drugging our h. For sex. For transportation. For her safety. I mean can you really blame him? It's way more convenient than having a conversation. And Blakely basically sleeps for half this book. The rest of the time she's having crazy sex. Sometimes WHILE she's asleep.

And you know the j/p thing? I mean, I really like it when the H is a psycho over the h... but Ryat doesn't even know Blakely and he's already waaaay super possessive and jealous, and that is one thing that really bugs me. When it feels like he'd be this way about ANY gal who was his "chosen", it loses it's charm. He isn't particularly attracted to Blakely, either. He knows she's supposed to marry someone else and he's just fine with that. Likes it even, because he'll get to hand her back all used up, and he's really into that thought. But he's adamant that no one watches them have sex and he won't share her while she's his chosen, bucking the norm. Why though? Normally, I'd be all Swoon City with that, but this felt like a miss to me. His j/p feelings aren't about her at all. In fact, they just come off as wildly insecure since they weren't based on his feeling for the h. What's sexy about that? For this reader? Not much. 😐

I will say that I enjoyed how controlling he was. 😬🤷🏼‍♀️ He gets all bent out of shape about her clothes and confiscates anything he thinks is too revealing and burns it. That's probably my favorite part of this book. I wish she'd expounded on that, because I love this sort of sh*t. 😅

Anyway back to Blakely... so, she's not a badass. I like that. She's obviously a natural sub. What I thought was weird is that she's a virgin and somehow just KNOWS she's gonna love pain with her sex... I'm not sure how she would know that since she has very limited experience... But she's really super into it. In fact she's amazingly into absolutely EVERYTHING Ryat throws down. Not a single qualm about any of it. Not even being drugged and sexed up. She likes it. The author goes out of her way to establish enthusiastic consent before we get very far down the rabbit hole of sexual slavery. And I'm gonna be completely honest... that took away from the edginess and my enjoyment of it. I mean, what's the point of having the experienced H and the virginal h if she's just gonna go full p*rn star immediately? And is it really a sex slave if she's an enthusiastic participant? She was fine with all of it. Wasn't even nervous. 👀🤨

So, now we're at 15%

Mhmm. F I F T E E N percent. 😳

And the rest of the book is just a loooooooooong laundry list of sexual kinks. To me, it seemed like the sexual fantasies of a virginal 15 year old boy, who has watched WAAAAY too much p*rn. I mean there is literally something for everyone. And only some of it seemed even remotely plausibly pleasureable for Blakely. Weird positions that couldn't possibly have been acted out to check for accuracy... I was cringing through at least 2 scenes where Ryat has tied up Blakely in the most uncomfortable way possible... I kept going back to figure out the arms and legs... and was left thinking... WHYYYYY??? Who could possibly enjoy this? It's not about the kink... it's about how are you going to get off in these positions??? if they are even really a possibility.... and really, if I'm having to reread to figure it out the logistics, it's lost the sexy. Just Stop.

It felt like such a miss, honestly. I was down for almost everything. But this was Everything But The Kitchen Sink, and it was overkill. This book would have been improved immensely if she had picked a lane... maybe 2 or 3 kinks and explored them with more nuance and depth and intimacy. As it was, it felt like a drive by of Sex 'R Us. None of it was done well, or in a particularly sexy way. The sex didn't further the relationship development or the story in any way. It was just sex. And there was a lot of it. So much. 😐 And the biggest miss, for me, was that none of the sex, except for the rape fantasy, was Blakely-centric. Basically, Ryat has been forced to be celibate for 3 years, and during that time he watched a sh*t ton of p*rn, and made a list of all the things he was gonna do to his chosen sex slave, when he finally got one. So, Blakely was essentially a nameless faceless warm body for Ryat to use. He wasn't particularly into her, but he shrugged, and said "she'll do"... because he didn't care. He just wanted to have sex. With ANYONE. I'm not sure that he was EVER motivated by any feelings for Blakely. Hell, he even marries her to one-up his rival. So *romantic*.

Speaking of relationship development... there was none. At all. They go from not knowing each other to having super intense kinky sex, to both thinking they weren't in love with each other - probably didn't particularly like one another... then the next page they tell each other they love each other. Made no damn sense. They have had ZERO conversations that weren't directly related to their situation and sex. They don't do anything together except for sex and sleep. they have learned nothing new about the other... I was completely stumped.

The story goes from weird to convoluted to jumbled. By 66%, the author had stopped even pretending there was a plot beyond the sex, and I was DONE. I only read to the end because I wanted to know how this mess was wrapped up. I skimmed the considerable sex scenes for the last 1/3 of the book. It was boring. No longer sexy. You know what's sexy? Real emotional connection, sexual tension, and intimacy... this book had none of that. Shallow, shock value sex is boring. 🤷🏼‍♀️

Bottom Line? So much potential but this was wildly disappointing, and that disappointment was made worse by the excessive length (0ver 500 pages). This was 90% sex, so if you're looking for romance, you've come to the wrong place. 2.5 stars because I like a j/p controlling H who uses "good girl" a lot... and I liked that it was a straight M/F romance with no sharing.

Okay, so I was in the hunt for a new dark read, and a friend of mine recommended this series…….. so of course I went to find it on amazon and realize I already had it on my Trusty little Kindle…….. so, God only knows why I didn’t read this book sooner

Okay for those of you that doesn’t know this authors work –{LIKE ME }, this is you’re fair warning……. This book covers so many dark elements, if you do not enjoy this type of read, I suggest that you stay clear of this book.

Okay, here goes a bit of negative.
I did enjoy the aspects of the dark parts and all that came along with it. Only problem was. The book was wayyyyyyyyy too looong ……. Now the spicy scenes were plentiful, but dang I can’t believe I’m going to say this, but there was way too many Sex scenes and not enough storyline……. So, I somewhat debated on what my rating would be of this book between the fact that I enjoy the twist and turns I would state that this was a one of the best parts of the book 📙., but due to the fact that there were too many sex scenes. And they felt like rinse and repeat. So, I would drop it to either two or three stars……. So, that leave me stuck in the middle. With my ratings to this book.

Blood, death, and secrets are what this book is made up, and dang some those twist and turns ….. Has me craving more from this author….And believe it or not, I’m curious for more of this society……. I’m willing to try the next book in the series to see if my ratings will improve……. I think it be hot second before I return to this series…..Okay, okay. Don’t judge me.

Oh, LORDY LORDY LORD! Never has a series name been quite so aptly used to describe who I need to speak to after reading this. Because I need to beg for forgiveness after all the depravity that is in this book. I am sure that I need help from either a priest or a psychologist because I enjoyed the sh*t out of this and that means I need therapy on a whole bunch of levels. I did not expect the ride that I got from this book and whilst refreshing, it was absurd.

This book was dark, gritty, dirty, rough, carnal, and oh-so spicy! And BOY did I lap it up like a little kitten drinking milk for the first time. It played into every dark, dirty, depraved desire that I love, and it just ticked every box in what I NEEDED in a dark twisted love story.

It follows a Dual-POV of Ryat and Blakely. Ryat is a Lord - a member of a really concerning fraternity that is also a secret society that breeds hitmen and strategically places powerful men into society, to essentially own the world. They perform despicable acts and in their final year of college, they are rewarded with the opportunity to choose a Chosen, a sex slave who they own for the year. Blakely is the ex-girlfriend of Matt, having recently broken up with him after finding out he has been cheating on her she is angry as she was saving herself for him. She is extremely frustrated and agrees to be Ryat's chosen for a little sexual adventure and wild ride. Unbeknownst to her though Ryat was ordered by a mysterious man to make her his chosen.

Blakely was a very difficult character for me to get a read on, and I couldn't decide if she was meek, timid, submissive or if she was bratty and fiercely strong-minded. Her actions fluctuate a lot between how she acts with her absentee family, Matt and Ryat. I wanted her to find her teeth a little bit sooner with Ryat, and I really wanted her to give a little bit more to fight when things got kinky.

Ryat is a psychopath. There is no other way to describe him, and he probably needs the same amount of therapy that I do... Actually, maybe he needs a sh*t-tonne more. He is an alphahole, commanding, powerful, obsessive and possessive in his ways and actions because even though Blakely is a "job"- he is completely besotted with her. He cannot stand being out of control and is destructive and explosive when this is challenged. These temperaments OBVIOUSLY bleed into his delicious sexual proclivities.

Their twisted romance is very much built on sexual attraction and is completely crazy. But something I really appreciated about it was the maturity that bled through in their discussions about sexual fantasy and kink. I don't like it when people kink shame, so it made me really angry when her ex-boyfriend shamed her for her fantasies. Calling her dirty and disgusting and making her feel less about herself. Ryat was able to have an adult conversation with her about what she wanted, what her boundaries were, and what they could explore together. He gave her her fantasy while still respecting her boundaries (even if they seemed blurry). It was refreshing to see his communication and openness that she allowed herself to be vulnerable and explore avenues of herself that were new.

This book is kinky, and given the SPICE rating, you would think it might just be FULL ON smut. And that's not really true. There was a plot somewhere in here, but it does not shy away from having pretty graphic scenes very early on and very frequently... that if you're pretty vanilla, it might make you uncomfortable. BUT SOMETIMES A GIRL JUST WANTS DIRTY!

I was very on track to give this five stars, given how much I was enjoying it. But at 63%, the book turned for me, and that was because it introduced the whole "I want to put a baby in you" trope, which I don't particularly like seeing in college romance. For me, these characters are too young, in my opinion, to be thinking about babies. And no offence to anybody who has had a baby early, (I respect everybody's decisions) but almost taking away her choice by forcing it on her just didn't sit right with me. I prefer if they have a chance to explore their relationship as a couple, as twisted, chaotic and depraved as it is before they start talking about bringing children into this world.

Coupled with that the plot ended up being so chaotic with aspects thrown in without their foundation being built prior in the novel. There were too many unanswered questions that left the book feeling unfinished and underwhelming

Even though I might need therapy for enjoying this, it was still a great read and I love the fact that my 🐧bestie twinsie🐧 and I stumbled across it. I am not sure how we agreed to pick this book up, but I am so glad that I had a sidekick willing to delve into the darkness with me and enjoy the ride.
