WARNING: Spoilers ahead for Gyeongseong Creature season 2.Gyeongseong Creature's second season has just landed on Netflix, but the intriguing post-credits scene at the end of episode 7 suggests that there might be more to come from the hit K-drama. Gyeongseong Creature season 2 sees the series move away from its historical setting of 1940s Korea and place its characters in the present day, with the najin threat still looming, however. While the new season answered many of Gyeongseong Creature's unanswered questions, there are many more mysteries that need to be solved following its open-ended conclusion.

Gyeongseong Creature 's third season has yet to be confirmed, but it is clear that there is much more to the Netflix K-drama's dramatic tale of humans and monsters. If it were to get a third season, it would follow in the footsteps of other Netflix original K-dramas like Squid Game and Sweet Home, whose stories have been expanded beyond the single-season format that many contemporary K-dramas follow. Despite this, Gyeongseong Creature's is shrouded in mystery, especially as the first and second seasons are entirely different. Luckily, the post-credit scene could offer an idea about where it's going next.

Compared to Gyeongseong Creature season 1, the najin have a completely different purpose in the 2024 K-drama's second season. The fruits of Lady Maeda (Claudia Kim) and Colonel Kato's (Choi Young-joon) have become apparent as the najin are revealed to hold special properties. They give their hosts enhanced healing abilities and physical strength, making them fearsome warriors who don't age or die. However, the najin are still bloodthirsty parasites, with those infected turning into murder in order to satiate their hunger.

In Gyeongseong Creature season 2's final episode, only a few characters remain infected with a najin. However, Seung-jo looks to increase the najin threat in the show's near future. Seung-jo has only known life as a najin. He was infected with the parasite at birth after his mother, Myeong-ja's (Ji-woo), cruel death, and has always been viewed as a monster. As a result, Seung-jo chooses to embrace this title and sets up Gyeongseong Creature 3 by placing najin larvae into water bottles sold throughout Seoul.
There is no knowing how many people will be affected by Seung-jo's actions, which look to play an important part in Gyeongseong Creature's potential upcoming seasons.
Knowing the chaos and turmoil that the initial stages of najin infection can cause, Seung-jo looks to be out for blood. There is a potential for new najin infectees to appear throughout Seoul, or perhaps even Korea, who give into a bloodlust they don't know how to control. This would take the otherwise contained najin threat and make it uncontrollable, as there is no knowing how many people will be affected by Seung-jo's actions, which look to play an important part in Gyeongseong Creature's potential upcoming seasons.

What Could Gyeongseong Creature Season 3 Story Possibly Be?
A Future Season Would See The Najin Threat On A Bigger Scale
Following the death of Lady Maeda, Seung-jo looks to take on the role as Gyeongseong Creature 's next big villain. His apathetic nature makes him a danger to the citizens of Seoul, and perhaps even the world. Alongside this, Seung-jo could further present an interesting discussion about humanity. As a K-drama set during the Japanese occupation of Korea, Gyeongseong Creature has constantly presented discussions about humanity and whether one life is worth more than the other. Seung-jo, who was raised as a monster, poses a different viewpoint, as he does not consider himself to be human.

Seung-jo's mysterious post-credits scene isn't the only indication of what Gyeongseong Creature's third season could be about if it were to go ahead. Ahn Jong-hyuk (Park Tae-in) mysteriously disappears at the end of episode 7 following his escape from Jeonseung Biotech, which could see him play a bigger part in future seasons. However, like before, Gyeongseong Creature would have to revolve around the stories of Yoon Chae-ok (Han So-hee) and Jang Tae-sang (Park Seo-joon), which the series alludes are far from done.

The show has many plotlines, but one of the most significant revolves around Gyeongseong Creature's main characters, Jang Tae-sang and Yoon Chae-ok. The duo fell head over heels for one another in the K-drama's first season, only to be separated as Chae-ok tragically dies at the hands of her mother, the monster. Their unfortunate fate seems to repeat itself in season 2. After only being reunited for a moment, Chae-ok loses her memories of her former life. Yet, a short scene in Gyeonseong Creature season 2, episode 7 suggests how Han So-hee and Park Seo-joon could return, moving forward.

Gyeongseong Creature's second season is due to be released sometime in 2024, but there are plenty of other K-dramas to watch while waiting.

Much like Tae-sang does throughout the first half of season 2, Chae-ok seems to have some small flashes of her former life. She wears the bracelet that Tae-sang gave her in season 1 and appears to have some recognition of Tae-sang after a chance meeting in the street. However, it is unclear to what extent Chae-ok knows about her old life, particularly as Tae-sang appears to be staying away from her. Gyeongseong Creature's potential third season could see Chae-ok and Tae-sang reunited again and provide a satisfying conclusion to their love story.
Chae-ok could be reinfected to gain her memories, but it is unclear whether her memories could return on their own, too.
Additionally, with a large-scale najin infection on the horizon, it is likely that Chae-ok and Tae-sang will finally put an end to Jeonseung Biotech. To do this, Chae-ok would likely have to regain her memories, so there is potential for her to be reinfected. If she does regain them, the duo will finally be able to avenge the victims of the past with a more satisfying conclusion than season 2's. Despite this, Gyeongseong Creature's future remains uncertain, but hopefully not for long following all these story clues.
